MULTI-SURFACE SPORTS PROJECT
The Trustees are still fundraising to provide a multi surface sports area in the old car park. The project will cost in total, around £70,000. I will be fenced with floodlighting, it will provide a surface for football, cricket , basket ball, net ball and tennis. It is also hoped that some kind of mobile skate board ramps can be placed in there for use during the summer holidays. The area will have to be regularly maintained, so it will be booked on a similar basis as the village hall and will close before 9pm in the evening, due to the proximty of houses.
So far we have raised £35,000 locally, with the help of 106 money and help from the Parish Council. It is hoped we can can get some funding from the National lottery ( we have failed on 2 applications already) and also funding from Babergh District when the project is nearer completion. We hope this is a project that all the village would support and get some use out of. The Trustees are always willing to hear from interested parties with ideas and ways forward on this project. Anyone interested should contact Alan Sawyer on 07970293003 for more information on becoming involved.
