The Acton Playingfield and Village hall Association
was formed in the early 1960s and is made up of Trustees from
the hall user groups.
The original village hall, situated behind the Crown public
house, was built in 1964, from the proceeds of a village rate
and was a popular venue until the 1990s, when large parts of
the building fell into disrepair. Bookings became less and in
consequence the hall became difficult to maintain. In 1994 a
hall project group was formed to build a new hall more to the
needs of the population.
The current hall was completed in March 2005
and comprises of sports facilities (including an especially
high roof for badminton), a meeting room, main hall and kitchen. The
hall is used by almost all the local village clubs and the
field plays host to cricket and football throughout the year.
Due to the large carpark, field and high roofed
main hall (providing exceptional acoustics) this venue is ideal
for music, conferences, weddings and parties.Click through
the website; learn about the hall, our groups and how to book
for your special occasion.
